Deep Blue Two Toned Empire Dresser

Tuesday, December 17, 2019

I think this is going to be my last furniture piece of the year which is CRAZY!  I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.  I started this blog this year, and it has grown so much!  I am also so excited for the holiday's and hope you all have a wonderful end of this year and kick off the new year right!

I am so excited to see what the new year brings for my blog and my furniture painting!

DEEP BLUE TWO TONED EMPIRE DRESSER

Okay okay, let's get into this makeover!

(The products used in this post were so kindly sent to me by the team over at Country Chic Paint, but of course all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own :))

I found this piece on Facebook and I got it for just $30 which is a steal!

I love how little it is and I LOVE how old it is, it is so cute and was in such great shape!  The wood on the drawers is beautiful, which is why I chose to leave them!

Products:

I cleaned the piece up and gave it a coat of Country Chic's clear bonding primer!  It was my first time using this product and I actually love it!

It makes the distressing process so much easier since it is clear.

Next I grabbed my pretty blue paint called Midnight Sky and gave the body of this pretty little thing 3 coats!  I let it dry completely before lightly distressing it!

To distress I just grabbed a 120 grit pad of sandpaper and distressed all of the edges.  To get the perfect amount of stressing (in my opinion ;)) you should distress the edges and all of the spot where the piece would casually get the most wear and tear to make it look natural!

Country Chic Paint is super easy to distress which is one of the reasons I love it so much!

Lastly I applied my favorite topcoat from Country Chic and applied 3 coats of this, making sure it dries for a good couple hours in between each coat for a perfect finish!

I put the drawers pack in and this thing is ready for some staging and a photoshoot.

I really need to get some new staging pieces, I feel like it has been so repetitive, so that is one of my new years resolutions for my pieces this year!

Here are some beauty shots featuring my little fur baby!

Let me know what you would paint in this pretty deep blue color from Country Chic Paint in the comments below!  And don't forget to let me know what you think about this piece!

Affordable DIY Wooden Bead Garland & How To Style It

Friday, December 13, 2019

Woah! Not a furniture post?  How weird!  Today is a more exciting post because it is actually a diy! And even better, a Christmas DIY!

I love love love Christmas decor, but neutral Christmas decor with touches of red here and there.  But, Christmas decorations can be SO expensive and ya girl just doesn't have the coin for that.  Especially when she is supposed to be buying gifts. So that's where the DIYing comes in :)

Wood bead garland has been extremely trendy this year and of course it is right up my ally!  I searched and searched for a reasonably priced one to use on my tree but I had no luck unless it was only like 4ft long, which was not long enough.

So today I am going to teach you how I made my own affordable wood bead garland and also some ways you can style it in your home for Christmas!

This one surprisingly got a neutral makeover with some pretty white paint in the color Crinoline from Country Chic Paint!  I finished this piece off with some distressing and buffalo check wrapping paper on the inside of the cabinet doors and in the drawers for a classic farmhouse look!

So when I found this MCM dresser on Facebook Marketplace I knew I needed it!  It took me awhile to decide what I wanted to do with it so I searched Pinterest and quickly came to the conclusion that I was going to do a two toned look.

How to turn a Curbside Cabinet into A Modern Stenciled Nightstand

Friday, October 18, 2019

So a couple of weeks ago we went back home for the weekend and scouted out the thrift stores for some furniture pieces for me to work on. Well...we didn't find anything!!

(this post contains affiliate links)

Actually, I found so many pieces I LOVED but I don't know what is going on but I think the thrift stores are catching on because they are all suddenly super marked up! I was so sad :( But there was no way i was paying $90 for a beat up dresser with busted drawers!

But the furniture gods were with me that weekend because on our way home we passed this house that had a ton of furniture out by the curb!! We passed it and hubby new that he immediately need to turn around so we could go look!  (that's why he's the best ;))

Olive Green Vintage Dresser

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

I have been on my furniture painting game this month, I don't know what it is but I have been cranking these babies out like no other!

I think it has a lot to do with all of the positive feedback I have been getting on all of my work from strangers, family,  and friends, and it really just keeps me going AND is the reason I do this.  I love what I do but I love when other people get joy out of my work too!

It really just keeps me going :)

Okay okay I am done being all mushy rn.  Let's talk about what today's makeover is.  Once again I am using a color mixing recipe from Country Chic Paint in this pretty olive color!

How to Paint a Half Feature Wall: Dark Green

Friday, September 27, 2019

This post is going to be a little different than what I have been posting over here.  Today's post is not about a furniture makeover surprisingly, but it is about our half painted green wall in our master bedroom.

*this post contains Amazon Affiliate links*

I saw some inspiration on Pinterest and knew I wanted to incorporate the idea into our room.  We have lived in this house for about 5 months and our bedroom was just kinda put on the backburner.  I was so preoccupied with the rest of the house that I never really got to decorating our room.

Although 5 months isn't super long, I am really impatient and just want to make our home feel cozy and happy as soon as possible!
