Farmhouse Nightstand Makeover: How To Transform Furniture

Tuesday, July 23, 2019

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today I am going to show you this transformation I did on these nightstands I found at a yard sale for just $5 each.  I am still not over this incredible makeover and I am so excited to share the process with you!

(The paint used for this project was so kindly sent to me by the team at Country Chic Paint, but all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own :))

Let me tell you... these nightstands were not easy to do, which makes the complete product even more rewarding.  There was lots of sanding, a few injuries, and a lot of sweat, but I made it through ya'll.  I did it for YOU.

Lets jump into this struggle of a project that turned into the most beautiful set of farmhouse nightstands :)

For this project I began by picking up these bad boys from a yard sale.

They were in bad shape.  Painted in this very aggressive lime green, a very bumpy texture that needed sanded down, and no drawer pulls.  It is a furniture flippers dream!

So first I sanded and sanded and sanded until all of the bumps were gone...mostly.  This was a pain in the butt, but I got it done and I knew I needed to do it for the paint to look even more amazing on these pieces.  I also filled the existing holes on the front of the drawers because they did not match up with the pulls I had in mind.

After all of the sanding I wiped them down and was ready to prime and paint.  I primed these nightstands with a basic stain blocking primer just a precaution with the previous paint.

Next, I painted these nightstands in one of Country Chic's new colors Cut a Rug from their Lustrum Collection.  This color is so pretty and I love it so much!  It was the perfect color for this project.

So far I love all of the new colors they came out with!  I used their new color Fireworks in this Green and Gold Dresser Makeover I posted last week :) go check it out after you finish reading this, because that green is G O R G E O U S.

After about 3 coats of paint I was ready for the fun part.  Adding new pulls and the legs!

I decided on these oil rubbed bronze cup pulls because I liked how they added the farmhouse vibe!

Next it was time for the legs.  I ordered the 3" legs and the hardware off of amazon, but I also had to get these 5/16" hanger bolts from Home Depot eventually.

I did not take pictures of this process because it was a frustrating one.  This was my first time adding legs to anything so it was definitely  learning curve and a process for me.  One day  will have a whole blog post allllll about it!

So I added the legs, got a few injuries in between and painted them, and I was done!

These look like completely different night stands and I am so proud of them!  What do you guys think of this transformation and the pretty color? Let me know!!

Thank you to Country Chic for supplying the paint for this project, as always, I am obsessed with y'all and your products!😍

I may have an exciting announcement coming soon that has to do with Country Chic paint and I can't wait to share it with y'all!!  Subscribe to my email list so you are one of the first to know when it happens!
