How To Paint Pour On Furniture : Marble Effect

Friday, July 19, 2019

HELLO! Today is such an exciting post to write because I seriously had so much fun trying this technique out and stepping out of my comfort zone!

Today I am teaching y'all how to do a paint pour on a dresser!  I did this grey and white with gold accent pour on the front of these drawers and it was SO much fun!

(All the products used for this project were so kindly sent to me by the team over at Country Chic Paint, but all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own😊)

HOW TO PAINT POUR ON FURNITURE: MARBLE EFFECT

Products Used:

Plastic Cups
Plastic Drop Cloth

Step One:

I just prepared my surface by giving it a quick wipe down and sanding down any bumps or anything raise on the surface!

Step Two:

Time to mix your paint!

For the best results and recommended by the team at Country Chic, I mixed a 3:1 ratio of paint to primer.  Mixing your paint with the clear bonding primer ensures that your paint will thin a little bit but also will prevent it from blending with the other colors.

I did this for all of my paint colors and the gold metallic cream as well.  I did the same 3:1 ratio for that product!

Step Three:

Pour a little of your paint on your drawer like pictured.  I poured each color on one by one.  I used less of the darker grey because I didn't want to overpower the other colors!

Step Four:

Move your drawer around over your plastic drop cloth and get the paint to swirl around the drawer.  Let it run over the sides to ensure you get the edges and just let the paint pour off onto the drop cloth.

Keep doing this until your entire drawer is covered. If your paint is being stubborn, use a spray bottle to spray just a little bit water on it and keep moving it around.

I don't have any pictures of this because I was a mess and covered in paint at this point haha!

Step Five:

Add your gold accent onto the drawer.  I used a little bit of this and just kept moving the drawer around to get the look I wanted.

Once I was happy with how the design looked I just set it aside to dry completely!  This may take awhile but be patient, I promise it will be worth it!

Once I let it completely dry I just added a top coat to give it a satin finish.  I popped my spray paint gold hardware back on, but the drawers back into the base, and I was done!

This project was MESSY.  But it was the kind of messy that is the most fun ever!

The finish of this piece is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, and id say for it being my first time trying this out, it looks AMAZING!

I feel like I want to paint pour on everything now!!

Let me know what you guys think of this awesome technique and don't forget to send me pictures if you try this out!
