How To Give A Desk A Whole New Look

I have another little makeover to share with you guys today!  This piece has been done for a week and has already gone to it's new home, but I still wanted to share it with you :)

This was such a big transformation in my opinion and it truly does look like an entirely new piece!  So this post is going to show you how to give a desk a whole new look in just a few simple steps!

(The paint used in this post was so kindly sent to me by the team over at Country Chic Paint, but all thoughts and opinions are of course 100% my own :))

I got this piece off of Facebook Marketplace from my usual people and I was very unsure about it at first.  I really didn't know if I wanted it because of the odd details on it and I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it work.

But nonetheless I bought it and got to work!

Products Used:

I started off by sanding down the top to get to the raw wood because I was going to be staining it!  Then I ripped off those odd little outdated details that I just wasn't loving, and it already started looking so different.

I was so relieved to find out that those pieces could be torn off super easily since they were just held on by tiny nails.

I filled in the tiny holes and the spot where I removed the details and sanded it down until it was flush with the existing surface!

Next up I primed the piece with my favorite gripper primer and let it dry.

While that was drying I stained the top in my favorite Jacobean stain and sealed it up with a poly top coat that I used for pretty much everything!

Now it's time for paint!

I grabbed my pretty grey color from Country Chic called Cut A Rug and gave this piece 2 coats of paint!  This color has AMAZING coverage!

After that dried for a few hours, I sealed it up with Country Chic's Clear Coat with 3 coats for a gorgeous satin finish!

I gave the existing hardware a light spritz of gold spray paint and put them back on the drawers!

Lastly, it's time to tackle this outdated chair! While I was painting the desk, i also painted the chair with the seat removed.

Then I just grabbed my adorable eucalyptus printed fabric I picked up from Walmart and covered the seat.  I will have a tutorial going up soon on how I did this so you can follow along step by step :)

And it's finished!  Now time to stage and take pictures of this pretty little thing :)

What do you think? I love love love how this piece turned out!  It is the perfect little farmhouse desk and I am so glad the person who bought it loves it as much as me :)
